About

UsefulSaathi is a small, independent project that builds free online tools for the everyday decisions Indian families often get stuck on: which day is auspicious, which letter to name a baby with, how big a bigha is, when to start school, how much a wedding will cost, how to turn photos into a PDF for a form, and much more. Every tool is available in English, Hindi and Hinglish.

Our principles

  • Free and without login. Every tool works without an account. The site is supported by advertising.
  • Your data stays with you. Calculations, PDFs, photos and text are processed in your own browser. Your files are not uploaded to our server.
  • Clear sources. Where a result depends on rules or rates (exam age limits, GST, HRA, subsidies), the page explains the rule and when it was last checked.
  • Estimates are labelled. Money tools such as the wedding budget, rent vs buy and electricity bill give estimates, not financial advice, and let you enter your own figures.

How our tools work

  • Panchang, Hindu Calendar and Name Rashi calculate the positions of the Sun and Moon with standard astronomical formulas (from Jean Meeus’s Astronomical Algorithms) using the Lahiri ayanamsa. Results have been checked against the Swiss Ephemeris. Festival dates follow the traditional time-of-day rules for each festival.
  • Land Converter uses commonly used state-wise bigha values and lets you enter your own local value, because sizes differ between districts.
  • Age & Exam Eligibility follows the age limits and cut-off dates in official notifications. Each exam shows when it was last checked; always confirm with the latest official notification.
  • Document Tools, Photo-to-Text and Study Notes use open-source libraries that run inside your browser.
  • AI Photo Studio generates images with the FLUX.1 schnell model on Cloudflare Workers AI; background removal and upscaling run on your device with open models (BiRefNet, Swin2SR).
